Learning Objectives:

  • Learner will understand the impact of memory, perception, and bias on their ability to analyze data.
  • Learner will understand analytic tradecraft and how to apply them from brainstorming to backwards thinking to analysis of competing hypothesis.
  • Learner will understand how ILP can be used with both community oriented policing (Peace Officer) and evidence-led policing (Law Enforcement Office) to prevent crime or mitigate crime, respectively. 

The Psychology of Intelligence Analysis Course 


This block of instruction will introduce the student to terms and definitions that are helpful in developing an intelligence-led policing program.  The course will prepare the student to define an intelligence requirement as well as understand the analytic tradecraft used in ILP to infiltrate and predict the criminal’s intent.
